From the Inside the Book -- Published annually in April, Reed Magazine is funded by San José State University. Manuscripts and queries should be sent to the editors at the above address—no email submissions. Phone: (408) 924-4458. Please specify poetry (up to 5 poems), fiction (up to 6000 words), non-fiction (up to 3000 words), or John Steinbeck Contest (up to 6000 words). The Steinbeck Contest requires a $15 reading fee. Reading dates are August 1st through December 1st. Manuscripts postmarked after December 1st will be returned unread. All queries and submissions must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). Response time is one to four months. Payment is in two contributor copies. Current issues of Reed Magazine are available for $8.00; back issues are available for $5.00. Ad rates are as follows: $150 full page; $75 half page. We invite ad exchange programs.
