From Inside the Book --

One of our main reasons for writing this guide was to make it easy to find climbing locations- to maximize time spent on the rock over wandering around in the woods. We have put a lot of effort into writing descriptions that attempt to make it easy to find the rock you want to climb, so we hope that you will have little trouble getting where you are going. Unfortunately, cairns get knocked down, trails change position, often there are minimal distinct land features, and sometimes there is no trail at all. Many of the crags in Summit County are challenging to find, and climbers should expect to spend some of their time retracing their steps to get back on the trail to the rock. The bonus of this is that the trails are hard to find because of infrequent use, and anyone who has spent time climbing on the Front Range will appreciate the luxury of climbing in solitude. If you have tried and still canít find an area listed in this guide, e-mail us at and we will be happy to take you there. This is an ongoing project and new route information, corrections and suggestions for the next edition are welcome.
