From the Back Cover -- Alzheimer’s It will never be all right! is our family’s story based on entries written in my journal. Charlotte lived with us for nine years and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s five years ago. I am Charlotte’s daughter-in-law; my husband is her only child. One of the surprises in this ongoing story has been to see how our relationship changed and deepened during this part of her life. I decided to share our day-to-day, minute-to-minute struggles with other people trying to care for an Alzheimer’s patient―hoping that others might find support and helpful hints for dealing with the emotional and physical roller coaster that the patient and the caregiver encounter as this disease progresses. It is in sharing our journeys that all of us are better equipped to deal with the awesome responsibility of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s. Perhaps family members and friends not directly involved with daily care giving will get a better idea of what is involved in this kind of undertaking and will be better able to offer support to the patient and the caregiver. Thank you for reading our story and sharing in just what living with Alzheimer's means in our family. A portion of the proceeds of this book is being donated to the Alzheimer’s Association for research. Our web site welcomes others to post their own stories of "living with Alzheimer's." The more we share, the more we learn.
