It was neither easy nor immediate. Despite huge obstacles, the parish pioneers seeded the first Morristown Catholic church—a small wooden structure named St. Mary’s—that bloomed into a vibrant and thriving faith community. Its official name is now  The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. However, many simply call it “Family.” is parish established formal education in Morristown, New Jersey, years before the Town of Morristown set up its own, established All Souls Hospital in Morristown years before the advent of Morristown Memorial Hospital, and is the mother church of several of the parishes in the southeastern part of Morris County. These are just a few of the great contributions made by Assumption. It is a story that should be shared with the community and diocese at large.
