About the Author --

Eileen Mattei, a University of Connecticut anthropology graduate, is the author of Valley Places, Valley Faces. A love of sharing great stories led her to writing after her first career in aquaculture. Her nature and travel articles appear frequently in Texas Highways and Texas Parks and Wildlife magazines. A freelance writer, she updated the international Insight Texas guide book. She and her husband Guy live in Harlingen.
