About the Author/Photographer

Julie Dawson and her husband, Peter,
have traveled extensively and intensively throughout 97 countries. As a
professional watercolor artist, photographer, writer, and speaker since
1973, she uses what she sees and learns from her travels in her work.
For more than 15 years, Julie has photographed bells. She is fascinated
by their myriad locations and uses in every culture throughout history.
In Seeing the World through the Heart of Its Bells, her
photographs of bells are accompanied by stories of how the bells
are/were used and the Dawson’s happy adventures in finding them.
Julie has had 87 one woman
exhibitions of her watercolors. Her work appears in public and private
collections world wide.
She has written and illustrated 3
children’s books:
