Marshall Grotenhuis was born in Oostburg, Wisconsin in 1918. He earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics, Physics and General Science from Milwaukee State Teachers College and briefly taught high school sciences and mathematics. He was drafted into the Army Air Corps and served three years as a bombsight and autopilot mechanic. After military service, he earned a M. S. degree in physics and mathematics at Marquette University and taught at Marquette for a year. He then was hired by the Argonne National Laboratory as an Associate Physicist. In 1971 he joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington D.C. where he produced Environmental Statements and Safety Evaluations as a basis for licensing Nuclear Power Reactor Plants. After retirement in 1988, he continued his 50 year involvement in Boy Scouts, earning several awards including the Silver Beaver. Other interests are the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Association and the Gaithersburg Historical Association, Ltd. He also writes a monthly column in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission News. He and Marilynn Johnson Grotenhuis are nearing 60 years of marriage, during which they raised four children. They moved to Asbury Methodist Village in 1992. “Asbury Methodist Village Revisited” is a continuation of “The History of Asbury Methodist Village; The United Methodist Church’s Response to Aging” published in 1999 by the Gaithersburg Historical Association, Ltd.

This book is a supplement to "Asbury Methodist Village; The United Methodist Church's Response to Aging, which gives the detailed History of Asbury Methodist Village
