From the Back Cover --

THE WISSAHICKON CREEK, its valley and its cultural artifacts have inspired preservation efforts for more than 150 years. Fifty years ago, the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association joined the Natural Lands Trust, Fairmount Park Commission and the Friends of the Wissahickon in their conservation work; the Association observes its 50th anniversary in 2007. To honor that milestone, Jamie Stewart, a second-generation member of the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association Board of Directors, preserves the details of life along the Wissahickon Creek. Hike with Mr. Stewart down the Wissahickon Creek as he captures the elusive Virginia Rail, the majestic
Peregrine Falcon, the evocative path through Penllyn Woods, and the timeless Evans-Mumbower Mill, and assembles the extraordinary images to present the result of the efforts of the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association and its partners and to vividly illustrate why the creek and its valley are worth preserving.
