From the back cover --

Edward Lear’s nonsense poem “The Owl and the Pussycat” is the most familiar, published, and illustrated of all of the nineteenth-century, English artist’s works. Many illustrators have created notable picture book versions of his poem, including Robert Ingpen and Jan Brett. Many authors, too, have written and illustrated books expanding on Lear’s poem with prequels and sequels. What sets this version apart from other picture books illustrating “The Owl and the Pussycat” is that it is a wordless reimagining of the story through fine art woodcuts. While the imagery is inspired by Lear’s text, it frequently presents unique interpretations and embellishments.
