About the Author --

James L. Hopp, a native of Rogers City, Michigan, was born on September 5, 1949, in Alpena, Michigan. His father Carroll owned and managed Hopp’s Standard Service, corner of Third & Erie. His mother Helen (Mulka) was a homemaker. He has three brothers, Neil, Randy (deceased), Jeffrey, and two sisters, Christine and Carol Ann. Jim was educated in the public schools, graduating from Rogers City High School in 1967.He attended Alpena Com-munity College, Central Michigan University, and did advanced studies at Marygrove College, Michigan State University, and the University of  Michigan. Mr. Hopp taught English, history, and journalism for 31 years, most of them at Rogers City High School. He retired in 2005.He enjoys reading, writing, music, photography, walking, cycling, movies, and old television series. He resides on South Lake Street in Rogers City, the coolest small town on the planet. His home is one block away from a sweet water sea.
