From back of book --
Award-winning writer Kim Cool
and artist Ilse Kern each found her own way to capture the charm,
history and mystery of Venice, Florida. In Venice History Illustrated
their words and pictures have been combined in one volume to preserve
the essence of one of the most historic cities on the Gulf Coast, a
planned community that has not only withstood the trials and
tribulations of time and tide but has more than fulfilled the vision of
its founders,
planners and earliest settlers. The hopes, dreams and careful planning
of those people combined with an appreciation of their efforts by
succeeding generations has resulted in a city that is far more than
simply the “Shark Tooth Capital of the World.” Venice residents come
from everywhere —drawn by climate and culture as much as by magnificent
sunsets and all the things that have made Venice so very special. Venice
History Illustrated was written as much for visitors who want to take a
piece of Venice with them as for the residents who make Venice what it
is today. Veni, vidi, vici, Venezia.
