From the Back Cover --

Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin’ is the untold story of true American Heroes. The people that were on the ground, rescuing, fighting for survival, and ultimately rolling up their sleeves to rebuild and put their lives back together. Author Cary Black has captured the raw emotions and feelings of these heroes…and finally
presents the most important historical truth about the storm…the story of the people who lived through it…

“During our city’s most trying time, the members of the New Orleans Fire Department valiantly did what we were suppose to do “protect and save life and property.” I can honestly say that it is not possible to be prouder of the men and women of the New Orleans Fire Department and the countless heroic deeds they performed. In Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin’, Cary Black tells their gripping story and describes the extraordinary incidents faced by the men and women who are the New Orleans Fire Department.”

Chief Charles Parent Superintendent New Orleans Fire Department

“Mr. Black tells the story in a way that makes the reader realize how far reaching the depth of this tragedy was.
But his intent was not to just tell the story of pain and suffering—it was to show the bravery of the everyday people who live in that area.”

Bonnie Kaye
Author and host of the Books of Excellence Blog-Radio Show

"I cannot begin to emphasize enough the importance and significance of Mr. Black’s book to all of the Katrina heroes, survivors and victims. Our voices will finally be heard. This book is a ‘must read’ for everyone."

Gretchen Schott Meyers
Katrina survivor

“Mr. Black’s thoughtfulness is overwhelming. From the very beginning one can tell that a lot of effort, a lot of heart and a lot of soul has been poured into this book.”

Chief Jim O’Neill
FEMATask Group Commander

“Mr. Black ‘gets’ it…and documents it in his tour de force book Katrina: A Freight Train Screamin’. Firefighters in the region as well as firefighters from around the country who came to assist after Katrina performed magnificently. These efforts went largely unreported in the media. Black dives in deep, sets the record straight and performs group therapy for a region…and also for himself…something we all desperately needed!”

Capt. Joseph Fincher
Engine 18, NOFD
