About the Author --
Alva Sachs holds
a Master of Education degree from Northern Illinois University. After
sixteen years of teaching, what was originally just a dream became
reality, and in 2008 Alva published her first children’s book, Circus
Fever. In 2009, Circus Fever was a National Indie Excellence Award
Finalist in the children’s picture book category and in 2008, a
Hollywood Book Festival Finalist. Following the resounding success of
her first book, Alva heads out for more fun with a new kid’s adventure:
On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! Whether Alva is visiting schools, libraries,
literacy festivals, or just story-time events, the rewards have been

Patricia Krebs is
a multimedia artist who grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she
earned her degrees in Fine Arts, Painting, and Contemporary Visual Arts.
Her illustrations have been published in educational magazines,
including Decisio -sponsored by UNESCO- and in children’s books, such as
Zee... Adventure One: Borrowing China, Circus Fever, and Classic Songs,
Rhymes and Activities in English, Spanish and ASL. Patricia’s paintings
and sculptures are exhibited internationally and are featured on
numerous books and cd covers. In addition, she works as a graphic
designer, creates puppets and props for theatrical events, writes lyrics
and music for her own musical projects as well as for other artists, and
records Spanish voiceovers for major movies, such as Happy Feet, Harry
Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Corpse Bride, and Beowulf. Learn more
