After many fits-n-starts, months and years (at least 5 or 6) of threats and promises, my memoir has finally been completed. The printer has just delivered copies to us here in DC, hot off the presses. The book, titled In the Shadow of the Statue of Liberty: A Memoir of a Black American, is the first of a set of two, and has 208 pages plus pages of photographs. The second book, developed from excerpts and essays from this one, plus oral interviews, is well on its way to completion.
