Domenico
Serra was the first of the Serra family to come to
America
. In 1901, at the age of 12, he crossed
the
Atlantic Ocean
on a ship called The
Liguria. He worked hard and saved his money. Domenico made three
trips back to the
island
of
Salina
to gather his family and brought them
to
America
. This book chronicles his journey and
tells others stories from the rest of the Serra Family.
Although the book is written for the Serra Family, the book has
been very popular with non-family members. It has been used as a
blueprint for other families to start their own family books. The book
has also been added to genealogy libraries across the country.
“(Your book) really is beautiful.”
